Martin has spent more than 30 years in the technology industry at HP/HPE and Western Digital with a significant focus on systems development. This included leading the teams for three major operating systems, high-end silicon for cache coherent systems, as well firmware development for those systems. He also started the Linux and Open Source activities at HP and led those initiatives for more than five years. As HP’s Chief Technology Officer, Martin also led the first developments for HP’s entry into the cloud with OpenStack. At Western Digital, he extended his open source work to the silicon world, initiating WD’s development of the SWERV RISC-V open source CPU core. He is the author of The Business and Economics of Linux and Open Source and is a co-inventor on two patents related to e-commerce.
